This mural is based on imagery of water in motion, from local rivers such as the Platte to public fountains. The shapes reference water as it flows, spills, sprays, and glints in the sun. The term superfluidity is found in fluid dynamics and describes a liquid with no viscosity that can change and respond to its environment rapidly. The piece is about adaptability and how the image moves freely through the architecture, tracing a dynamic path of visual movement.

Based on images of Seven Falls in Colorado Springs, this piece responds to the architecture of the space to create one continuous image that spills across five floors of the interior of the building. Like the waterfall it refers to, the viewer can climb the stairs through the space to gain multiple vantage points on the piece.

This piece continues my investigation into Denver’s relationship with the Platte River, an urban waterway that has played a major role in shaping the development of the city. In 1965, the South Platte River flooded central Denver, including the area surrounding Union Station, which led to projects in urban renewal and flood management over the following decades. Today Union Station is the focal point of Denver’s current urban development, including the new mixed-use building where the Husch Blackwell offices are located.  The image and title of the piece ask the audience to consider the history of the area, the river itself, and the complicated negotiation that happens between urban areas and their natural surroundings.

The imagery for Strange Continents is derived from hundreds of photographs of the Platte River at Confluence Park in Denver where it cascades over a series of man-made boulders. These photographs were then digitally manipulated to arrive at a vocabulary of shapes that were composed to resemble a global map. The dichotomies of natural and urban, local and global are central to the piece, and reflect a broader interest in the relationship between growing cities and their natural environments.

This piece reflects on the experience of the Women’s March by focusing on the urban landscape. Cracks in the sidewalk represent the physical interaction of the Women’s March movement with the urban environment, implying either the breakdown or breakthrough that this political moment may culminate in.

Based on photographs of the Platte River at Confluence Park, this site-specific painting draws parallels between the traffic flow of pedestrians through the lobby outside Bellco theater and the flow of the local river. Abstracted organic shapes create a sense of directional movement that draws viewers between the lobby and the second floor, mimicking the pattern of the stairwell. Painted directly on the wall, the piece is both permanent and ephemeral, embracing the architecture of the space and the viewer's changing perspective on the work.
